Jaiman Lawrence and Aidan Abraham, the visionary minds behind Lawrence Abraham Labs, are not only the founders of LA Labs but also the pioneers who established UOHFS in 2021. Their innovative spirit and commitment to sustainable technology have driven the success of both ventures, positioning them as leaders in the field of algae-based solutions and student-led initiatives.
Current Projects
Project TACO
This project aims to establish a baseline by successfully transforming algae with a GFP plasmid within the first three months. LA Labs will then enhance transformation efficiency over the next six months by introducing an additional plasmid alongside GFP. By the nine-month mark, they aim to diversify protein production by incorporating the pUdo plasmid with luciferase and GLP-1. Throughout the project, they will continuously refine and validate our techniques to ensure reliable and efficient transformation processes.

Project MACE
LA Labs aims to utilize algae as an anode in a microbial fuel cell (MFC) system. By harnessing the photosynthetic capabilities of algae, they intend to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of MFC cathodes, contributing to a more eco-friendly energy production method.
Project HAG
LA Labs is integrating an algae system into a modular hydroponics unit to create a symbiotic environment that maximizes efficiency and sustainability. The algae will contribute to nutrient cycling and oxygenation, enhancing plant growth while also supporting eco-friendly energy production and waste reduction.
